get down, get undressed

it is apparent that i can turn into a sullen teenager. we all contain ourselves within ourselves, so to speak, so no big surprise there. it's so nice and grey and misty here in new york. why would you want anything else?

lucretia, my reflection (mp3, right click, save, or whatever)
temple of love (etc)

i went on quite journey today--one which i've done a couple times already. it has to do with tower records closing. normally i buy records from kim's, which is an independent record store, and kind of small, so they often don't have things, like records by the sisters of mercy, who haven't put out a record in about fifteen years. used to be, i would then go to tower, and they would have anything. so, today: i'm depressed, i'm sullen, i'm at work, it's grey outside, i'm on the tenth floor looking at damp grey new york on out to infinity, and i want to listen to the sisters, who i haven't thought of much for years. i don't have any cd's by them, because it's all on tapes, and we know how that goes.

needless to say: there's no tower now. so my journey includes barnes and noble, which is hopeless for goth music. excuse me: any music. i mean, i even looked for my life with the thrill kill kult as a reality check. nope. which is fine. then my jouney moves to fucking itunes, which doesn't have most sisters records. the internet fails miserably!! i mean, it was a total strikeout. tower records would have saved me. god bless you tower, you poor dead bastard. i raise my pernod to show my love for you.

i won't tell you how i got those songs above. you don't want to know.

i still love the sisters. there's been a lot written about andrew eldrich's vocals, and what the sisters of mercy sound like, and la la la. grandmas and pastors and people with taste hate it the world over. this is the biggest goth band evar. and the cure don't count.

i liked this as a fifteen year old, and i still do. sometimes you want the world to be a certain color and a certain shape. the world can be small and bright, or it can open up and be big and bright. your feelings make it seem how it seems. take the sisters, and you can make the world huge, and night-washed, and flicked with lights. the world can be busy or empty. cold or hot. how do the sisters of mercy make the world for you? how do your favorite bands make the world?
